| As the fluid flows in
the direction of the arrows it must pass through the accurately proportioned
areas between the Mesurflo Diaphragm and the Mesurflo Seat. At the
lowest pressure which will establish rated flow for a given Mesurflo, the
diaphragm is still in its original shape. As the fluid pressure
increases, the diaphragm is squeezed into a new shape. this new shape
combines with the contour of the seat washer to give less are for fluid
flow.
The reduction in area is so proportioned to the increase in pressure that the net result is exactly the the same fluid flow as existed before the pressure increase. The physical shape of the Mesurflo seat and the diaphragm are quite intricate to give this relationship. Both the flexing properties of the diaphragm and the dimensions of the contours are rigidly controlled to give the desired flow rate control accuracy. For small increments of flow rates the seat contour is changed as needed. For very large flow rates, several Mesurflo Controls are placed in parallel inside a single housing. |
